Many years ago, what seems like a lifetime I worked at a dive on the side of Highway 1 on the Central Coast of California, The Rusty Pig. I was the second customer through the door of what began as a doughnut shop out in the middle of nowhere. All that existed at the time was a tiny grocery/gas station and lots of open space. What a week it has been. I will spare you the details, but I had a medical emergency and am feeling very under the weather. Medications are also draining to say the least. To cheer me up hubby helped me with a few sprucing up projects that I had wanted to accomplish. I had started on these projects but just could not finish.

Yesterday hubby and I decided we wanted to take a drive among the foothills, soak in the unseasonably warm January sunshine. Our tree this year...and my favorite gift from years past from my hubby, the Santa. I recently had the pleasure of reading yet another remarkable book. Again within the pages I was taken back in time, much further back than the last book I chatted with you about, back to the late1800's-1900's as a matter of fact. I just got my last batch of cookies out of the oven. Mmmmm Mmmmm does it smell good in here! I recently was walking through my local book store and came to a rapid stop mid isle when I spotted a cover of a book with the image of a woman from the 1920's on the cover. I rushed over and picked up a book by the title of "The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt" by Caroline Preston.

In the kitchen time again!


I am so very eager for Autumn to arrive. Today I even had my manicurist paint my nails in a lovely shade of deep, dark wine...a color I normally reserve for the cooler months. 29,000 gallons of propane have been burning since 12 noon PST yesterday. Team from Houston in to help end the situation. If allowed to just burn could burn for 21 days! Nearly 1 million gallons are near by that could ignite if it blows. Shrapnel could fly at least 1 mile!

Ready for a good old fashioned trail hike?
After the last three days of sharing our trip to Murphys California, a charming town in the Sierra's and named the Queen of the Sierra's as a matter of fact. We decided to travel on up Hwy 4 and visit Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Yesterday hubby and I decided it was time for another daycation. So we pulled out all the travel books, brochures and did a bit of online research. After we left, we again just followed the road to see where it would take us, and we ended up in the tiny town right near the heart of the Shenandoah Valley.
