Closing One Door and HOPEFULLY....

I shall be the first to admit that I am so very glad for the door of 2010 to be closed and HOPEFULLY the one of 2011 will lead to so many possibilities.  Last years door closed with a bit of a wimper. Hubby worked late, was exhausted, we barely made it to midnight, as his lids kept going down like the lighted ball would soon do. Midnight came closer and he barely counted down, I got a peck and a clink of the glasses, then he got up to get ready for bed. I asked him if he had a toast ? He basically said "Thank God it's over!" Yep. A wimper!

This morning kind of entered the same way. I woke very late to a cold, gray and wet day. But I am hopeful. I am ready to start this year with a bang! I want to let all the past two years that were so very horrible, an understatement really and look forward to things improving and changing for the better...NO the OUTSTANDING!!! I do not want to settle or believe in less.

There has been much talk of picking a word for the year. How does one do that? How do you pick just one. I thought of  DIVA : Divine , determined perhaps. Inspired , Vivacious and Abundance. Creative isn't it??? But then as more and more words swirled in my head ... peaceful, happiness, serenity, calm, faithfulness, energy...the list went on and on, one stuck out. Since starting to implement Law of Attraction, one stuck out VERY strong. BELIEVE!!! To make LOA work, even to make prayers to God work, well it helps anyway, you have to BELIEVE!!! So that is my word. I have a blank and open book in front of me in the year of 2011 ( or am working on that thought LOL) ...
I just love these poems and statements that I have read over the last couple of days.....

A new year is fresh and beautiful. A new opportunity beckons to allow us to step into bigger shoes, take on new projects, open up our hearts to new sensations of joy, delight, love, truth, honor, everything our heart desires. In this awakening, we are given a chance to experience life with new eyes. Do things differently today. Break the mold. Feel bigger happiness. Unsure where I saw this...somewhere on FB

The quality of the new year will be determined by how we use our more than 525,000 minutes that we're given each year. Invest them wisely! ~ The Inspire me Today web page

“The new year is a time to boldly take the first steps toward
your best future.”

—  Oprah

“Another fresh new year is here . . .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!

I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!”
-William Arthur Ward

Now a word about resolutions....I got this picture off another blog and it said a lot!!
I do not like resolutions, and neither did the writer of the blog and so many of my friends. One said, it sets you up for immediate failure. I have already seen people post that was indeed the case, day one ! So instead I plan to challenge myself. I love a good challenge and rarely back down from one. So today, while I watch OWN , Oprah's new network, I shall take out my journal and work on my list and tomorrow shall share it will you all.

Monday shall get back to the book I am reading, Seeking Peace by Mary Pipher . As I get deeper in the book , the current part I am reading is her "beginnings", the history of her parents, her life as a child ( at least so far). There are not a lot of quotes to share or things that I can relate to. So after Monday's post may be taking a break from that book. I do have other books that I will share. Currently in my pile to re-read....

The Bounce Back Book by Karen Salmansohn ( she has other books that are about happiness, and are a fun and easy read, I really suggest you look them up on Amazon !!

Kick Up Your Heels ...Before You're Too Short To Wear Them by Loretta LaRoche

The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin ( This one is a read a chapter a month , and this year she is running an all new challenge for 2011 that I will share; you can find her on FB and Twitter, You-Tube, a blog and there is a couple newsletters as well, when I share will gather all links.)

So as you see there is quiet a bit of positive material that I will be sharing in the new year, as well as continuing with the current book on and off as one must repair and create new foundations to build anew on.
So till tomorrow....be thinking of what YOU will challenge yourself to achieve this year!
