HOLY COW! A small town at it's best

Yesterday my daughter Rebecca needed to run back to Folsom Ca, to re-stock some of her art at the chocolate/sweet shop where she has it displayed. It just happen to be the 50th anniversary of the Rodeo and they were to have celebration. The celebration included a parade, and a cattle run down Sutter Street, in the historic district of the city. So sit back and enjoy the parade ......I know we did.

The crowds lined up......

The Sheriff kept them all in check....

And the balloon man and the prison band ( complete with ankle bracelets) kept them all entertained, while we waited for the beginning of the parade to start.

There was tethered runners in unusual costumes.....

Soon we knew it would start when the National Anthem was sung with a country twang and the cheers began. There was vintage cars......

Even our troops made an appearance to much applause as they passed by....

There were stage coaches, and wagons....

Floats and historical pioneers ....

There was riders upon horses....even a Queen !

The Pony Express made an appearance ....

And then what everyone was really waiting to see ...one of the last few cattle runs in the state of California......

Soon the parade was over, and we were craving a relief from the heat, a place to sit down and a sweet treat to eat..... So back to Victoria Chocolatier.......

Soon , as the sun was setting in the evening sky, something told us it was time to head on home....so until next time.....

2- In my hometown, we have our community days. They're not quite as "pioneer" as those, but definitely have the same small town vibe! In fact, those days are coming up next weekend!

3- Why are there always such wonderful shops in California?! Darnit Colorado..time to catch up!
