Super Easy Supper Time

I wish I had a team of cooks so I never had to, but.......

Are you surprised??? A blog post three days in a row. Call it boredom, too much time on my hands, or simply just that I missed you all! Truly it is the latter, as I have a long list of things to do so the first two do not apply. For instance, I just mowed the front and back yard, with a PUSH mower! Then I swept the fence of all the dirt, the walks and the porch, and dead headed flowers.... all on less than three hours sleep and with my back out.... Super Woman? Nah! Just stuff that had to get done before the rain moves in tonight. I am quite proud of myself, only bummer is I missed the ice cream man! So now having a snack from the kitchen and some ice water and spending some time with you all. Because I have been so busy, and I know many of you are as well, I wanted to share another "What's for Supper" post and make it as easy as possible. My favorite kind! This is the supper hubby and I had two nights ago and I just had the leftovers today... still good as the first night!

So, first off, do you have a crock pot?? You will notice that many of the easy recipes I share will involve either tossing something into an oven or tossing it into the crock pot. So if you do not have one... well I suppose you could make this on the stove top, but it will not be as easy... the whole point is to throw everything into the crock pot and forget it. Did you know each time you open it you add 15-20 minutes of cook time!? Yeah me either, then I was flipping through my Kraft Food and Family recipe clippings, and there it was. Good tip! Here is another.... buy those handy dandy Reynolds crock pot liners...OMG, best things ever and make for very quick clean up!! Now on to the recipe..... I shall not claim this is my original recipe, not by a long shot, but I did test it out for you and then I tried it again and this go round being lazy, so I guess as I upped a few ingredients quantity, it kind of is partially mine LOL

See, not my original recipe ...but made a tweak here and there.

Easy Slow Cooker A.1 Swiss Steak

Gather these....
original....
Toss 2 lb boneless beef chuck eye roast, cut into 1 inch cubes
and 1/4 cup A-1 Original Steak Sauce in slow cooker.

Top with 1 sliced onion and 1 undrained  14 1/2 oz. can of
diced tomatoes... cover.

Cook on low 9-10 hours  or on high 4-5 hours

Mix 2 TBSP flour with 1/4 cup cup of water, stir into meat mixture
(once it is cooked) and cook, covered, 5 minutes or so or until sauce is
thickened, stirring occasionally. Serve with hot cooked egg noodles and
a green vegie... makes 8 servings about 2/3 cup each

Ok, so the lazy ladies tweaks
*giggle*

I bought pre-cubed stew meat, and only used
a pound as it was for two adults.

I did not use A.1 I just bought a steak sauce that was
on sale.... and I did not measure, I just poured till it looked like the right amount.

I did not slice the onion... I chopped it...ok not so lazy,
and many tears shed..easier would have been frozen pre-chopped
onions.... NEXT TIME! for sure!!

I did use the same amount that was called for on the tomatoes,
I wanted to up the vegie factor...it is how I sneak them in on
hubby... so a whole onion and a whole can of diced tomatoes.

The rest of the instructions I followed. I cooked mine 4 hours...
plus the 5 minutes after adding the flour and water slurry.

All ready to put the lid on...OH I stirred the ingredients to coat them
with the sauce evenly.
The Results......

After cooking these... I served it this way.....

We had a green salad on the side, so covered the "serve with green vegie" part, but we like it with
the meat mixture on the pasta.

Hubby Loved it!
let me know if you try it and how you like it!!

  2. Okay, lady, now that you have a lovely home and yard, AND, talked about slow cooking, it's time you think about solar cooking and saving some serious money. Check out my post on solar cooking is just slow cooking -- on speed! http://bit.ly/12nkaUU Great recipe the only difference in the recipe would be using FREE solar energy. (Sorry. Couldn't resist.)
