Glamour Is Not Dead ...

This past Sunday, my hubby and myself decided to take a nice drive through the foothills, in and around the Apple Hill area above Placerville Ca., just as we do every Autumn. I mentioned that it would be nice to visit the gold mining town and state park Coloma Ca. just off of HWY 49. It would not be far out of our way and thought it would be fun to snap a few photos in the Pioneer Cemetery. I have mentioned in the past that I am rather fond of not only ghosts and ghost towns but of old cemeteries as well, and this one, suspected to pre-date 1849, is of particular interest to me as I keep hoping to see the "Woman in Burgundy"( You can read about my last visit there in 2010 HERE and HERE  to learn more about Coloma and see more photos.). Witnesses say an apparition of a lady in a burgundy dress with her hair in a bun comes to, as the legend goes, watch over the Schieffer family. She also has been seen by the roadside, dressed in a dress with a burgundy skirt, her black hair worn in a center split and wound in a tight bun at the nape of her neck, beckoning for passersby to come to the cemetery for a visit, often, it is reported, resulting in cars to run off the narrow road to avoid hitting her. Who is this woman in burgundy? It is reported to be Louise/Louisa Chalmers, wife to one of the earlier settlers of Coloma, Robert, who met a mysterious death, or so the story goes. I have yet to see her, and not sure what I would do if I did, but I shall keep visiting from time to time to see if this glamorous ( for those days going back to the Gold Rush ) woman in burgundy appears for me.

**You can read an account and get some back history, from a woman who DID see Louisa and even caught an EVP in 2009  HERE and another account circa 2013, from a woman who saw unexplained lights and has felt a close by feeling of Louisa being with her each time she visits HERE.  Both are very interesting accounts.

Peering through the trees to see if I can catch a glimpse of something
or someone among the grave stones.....

..Was that..... no, guess it was just a bird rustling in the trees overhead...

Woman in burgundy...roses....

...waiting patiently to see if Louisa appears....

A shout out....
