A Sunday To Remember

Yesterday was the first time in such a very long time that my husband Robert and I were able to get out for a day of fun and relaxation...it was so very needed. The day started out with a wonderful breakfast prepared by my hubby, such a great way to begin our day.

Whole grain waffles, with fresh strawberries, whipped cream and a hot cup of coffee...mmmm....
After a lovely breakfast and conversation, it was time to get dressed and head out for our day. We were to meet our daughter Rebecca, her boyfriend, and her dog at the park for an afternoon  picnic and a photo session. We arrived to a lovely park near their home, to a lovely spread of fresh fruits, crackers, cheese, meats and sparkling lemonade. Before we ate, Rebecca took photos with her camera as well as ours. We felt like models for a photo shoot.

After a bite to eat it was time for a bit of fun....bubbles were in order!

Daughter Rebecca taking a break from being photographer.

Caught in the act as well!
After a wonderful time in the park it was time for hubby and I to head out, we were to go discover a new winery and have some fun wine tasting. So heading out on HWY 65 to the far reaches of the town of Lincoln, CA. through open fields of wild flowers,
Ending up making a right turn into a lovely winery with sweeping vineyards and a view to die for....
The view from the parking lot at Wise Villa Winery, Lincoln, CA
Let the fun begin!
Once inside we were to discover there was three tastings under one roof! For 5.00 a person, you could taste several divine selections at each ( had to pace ourselves). Kevin at Wise Villa was even kind enough to provide crackers and bread ( needed to pad the belly, absorb the offerings) ! We had many favs there, The 2010 Nocturnal Light *Torrontes* , 2010 Pinot Noir Rose and the 2009 Wisdom of Wise were real stand outs from the tastings. Soon it was time to move on over to the tasting table of Le Casque out of Loomis Ca., a near by town. There the list grew of more wines we found to our liking.... the 2009 Vermentino, '09 Viognier , '08 Roussanne even earned a heart from me! Oh and not to forget the 2007 Cabernet Franc and the 2007 Adrian , those earned 2 out of 3 stars from hubby ( he is the wine geek) . Finally, the last table Caute Ao Vinho , hubby was in love.....the Bordeaux Blend rated 3 stars as did the Cabernet Sauvignon, the Vinho Italiano and Zinfindel each garnishing 2 stars! All in all we enjoyed each and every offering and have quite the list that grew that we will be asking our daughters to get for us as gifts, and we of course once we can afford more than the tasting cost will be purchasing many to re-fill our very lonely wine fridge. We will be returning often as well to try more offerings and perhaps bring a packed lunch and purchase a glass to enjoy out on the patio that overlooks the amazing and relaxing view!
Sadly, soon it was time to leave and finish up our day out, supper was at home awaiting us in the slow cooker and we were ready to relax with that and a couple Chocolate, Chocolate Patty Cake Cookies that had been put aside for an evening snack.
Awaiting the arrival of the car.....

Till next we meet.....

  2. What a great day -- and such amazing photos! I never met a vineyard I didn't like. The two of you are the epitome of style. (And I agree with previous comment about that bag).
