Surprise! A Sunday post! I thought I would share with you what we did yesterday. Hubby took the Saturday off and we attended the Cellar Dweller Wine Club pick up part at m2 winery in Lodi California. I have shared often this most delightful and filled to the brim with amazing wines winery in the past. We do not make it down very often, but do our best to not miss the club release parties. This go around the weather could not be more perfect and after a bit of an easy drive we arrived to familiar surroundings and warm welcomes.
This go around we were treated to food from a local Mexican Bistro out of Lodi, Alebrijes. Ruben Larrazolo and staff were there serving mouth watering food to dine upon, each paired with a m2 wine. We were served first a sinfully good salsa to tantalize our taste buds, served with a 2009 Tempranillo. At station two, we were given a simply scrumptious Conchinta Pilbil (corn tortilla with pork..oh and beans too)..served with a 2009 Artist Series Zinfandel, the mixing on the tongue or subtle spices and sauce, tender pork, warm and soft corn tortilla and the creaminess of the beans just sent us over the moon!
As we progressed station to station, including one offering Leonard Cicerello of Lodi Olive Oil Company we were treated to the sounds of "Formally Known" as they recreated and put their own spin on classic tunes. Reaching station five we were then enticed with a Mole Negro( Oaxaqueno with smoked duck) served over what might be the very best "Spanish" rice I have ever had;in fact I had it twice it was so good! This was paired with the 2008 Old Vine Zinfandel; making it perfection on the pallet.
As the day progressed we had a chance to catch up with the owner Layne Montgomery, his lovely wife Karen and all the other partners behind the scenes at m2. We met up with other members and chatted about life, food and wine, and were introduced to new friends as well as the new to the winery cats Bob & Nancy, who showed up in late January and decided it was a great place to reside, and who could blame them?? It is a wonderful place to spend time! We can hardly wait till we can once again go and have fun among the barrels at m2 Winery.
Formally Known playing among the barrels had everyone tapping their toes to the beat. |
Ruben dishing up the Conchinta Pilbil to eager and hungry guests. |
Hubby waiting for the to die for rice that was served with the mouth watering Mole. |
We all had fun among the barrels getting to sample, sip and discuss yet to be bottled m2 offerings. That is Layne, the wine maker to the right. |
Till Tomorrow ....
*Cheers!* |
Looks like you had a lovely time. Great pics and as always I love your outfit!
