Weather , Wine and a Bite to Eat

On Sunday as I have been sharing all week, my hubby and I braved the unusual weather that was happening in Northern California. We visited the California State Railroad Museum ( Links : One & Two), and that was so much fun! Afterwards we decided to head down to the Delta Town of Clarksburg, to the Old Sugar Mill for some wine tasting.

 More photos here....LINK

We have been there a couple of times over the last year and a half, and always enjoy the drive as well as our experience there...and about every six months or so we deem it the perfect daycation destination.
With six wineries under one roof, the Old Sugar Mill sits in the middle of Delta country, surrounded by large open fields, some filled with vineyards, often with wild mustard or other crops depending on the time of year. The drive (photos I posted yesterday) is relaxing with the river on one side and a mix of old homes from days gone by and newer, bigger mini mansions on the other. Trees line both sides mingled with over grown vines, and on occasion you will even spot a peacock or two. Truly, even if all we did was drive down this road that leads to Clarksburg, it would be enjoyable!

We decided before going for wine tasting that we would grab a bite to eat at a deli that sits at some cross roads in Clarksburg , Husicks Country Store. In a town that does not have much in it past a few homes, farms and of course the Old Sugar Mill sits the most charming place to grab a bite, perhaps do a bit of shopping, or simply sit and relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and let the world go by.

My yummy sandwich. Turkey with pesto, caramelized onions, and provolone on sour dough.

Hubbies...pastrami.

So once our bellies were full , it was time to go back over to the Old Sugar Mill and partake in some wine tasting..... I hope you enjoyed sharing our Sunday "daycation " .........

Hubby caught me in the act of drinking a wonderful sampling of port.

Could not resist taking a pic of the heart crackers...we had chocolate truffles as well!
Cheers!!
